Resolved Question: Are today's Country artists better role models than yesterdays?
Here's just a few of the Classic Country Stars: George Jones-Alcoholic/Drug addict/ WIFE BEATER Johnny Paycheck-Herion addict Waylon Jennings-Cocaine addict for 27 years Willie Nelson-Drug addict and still is today plus he ADVOCATES the use of drugs Roy Clark- Pill Popper Johhny Cash- More Drugs David Allan Coe-Drug Addict-Alcoholic Keith Whitley-Alcoholic List is pretty much endless Now you get questions deleted for even saying Taylor Swift and Carrie are good role models LOL moreResolved Question: What kind of country music do you like?
You may like them all, but I'm wanting to know which is your FAVORITE type of country music. Traditional (classic) Country Bluegras Modern Country. Outlaw Country or something I didn't mention? Personally I'm hooked with outlaw country with Willie Nelson and Merle. How bout you? moreResolved Question: can some people list some old country muscians?

I am getting old. Thought would throw question out since now have "Music of Your Life" and several other network radio programs that play that great popular music of 50s 60s 70s. The type performers Al Martino, John Gary , Frank Sinatra, and Matt Monro. My memory is that Dolly Holiday played the music on old WCKY (50,000 watts), now extant. It promoted Holiday Inn with short commericials. From WCKY their motel in Covington, KY was mentioned a lot. It was great music. The station introduced me to crossover country, such as Jack Greene, Jim Ed Brown, and Eddy Arnold. I think it laid the roots for my later becoming a big fan of country music, Hank Snow, Willie Nelson. She was the classic very good d.j., not a lot of talking, but pleasant. Saw a Holiday Inn record for sale once at Sears. Any persons, older like me, with memories of program mainly in 1960s? It was not live of course, tape; as I would say most of nostalgia radio music programs are today. The fantastic response is deeply appreciated. It completely connects with my remembrances. I should have said WCKY was Cincinnati, Ohio. Memphis is also home base for Holiday. God Bless the answerer for his thoughtful hard work, rev. glen I am getting old, Memphis is home base for Holiday Inn. Should have added. moreResolved Question: What do you & fiance differ on?
This is totally for fun. Is there anything that you & your fiance just don't agree on or one of you likes and the other doesn't so on that item you go your separate ways? Nothing that you get into fights about or anything, you just know your tastes differ. In our case, music is our biggest difference. I love hard rock & heavy metal and going to rock concerts. My fiance is into country music mostly and a few other things that I'm not really into. We do overlap with some oldies and classic rock, but that is the extent of it. I took him to see Alice Cooper - he hated it. He took me to see They Might Be Giants - I hated it. I slept through Willie Nelson. He didn't like Aerosmith. We both liked Meatloaf and George Jones. If either of us picks up the other ones iPod we say "there's nothing but crap on this thing! You don't have any GOOD music on here!". Its our little "you go your way and I'll go mine" thing. What is yours??? moreResolved Question: 1. Which classic female country artist passed away in 1991?

It irks me when I hear someone say "Oh I listen to anything but.." country is usualy what they say. But there is so much great Country Music- and its so diverse and a big Genre . Legends like Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins, Willie Nelson, and others paved the way for many Rock and Roll artists and Pop stars that followed. And- there is so many different styles of Country- its not just one thing. But most people think its just one thing. It seems like they aren't true music lovers if they dont appreciate it. Im a music lover and I love ALL MUSIC- including Country. Especially Classic Country and Western. moreResolved Question: CLASSIC COUNTRY FANS....Who Did??????????????

This one may prove a little too tricky. I used to be a country fan and a few years ago, I'm guessing anywhere from 2003 to 2005 there was a song on CMT's top 20. I am 95% sure it was and stayed at the number 1 slot for awhile. It was a female singer (maybe a duet with a male). It had that classic country feel too it, like Willie Nelson or Kenny Rogers. I remember the video featured a woman walking down a street and under a street lamp, possibly in black and white. My last clue I may be able to offer is the album name. It was odd, something similar to "Dedicated to the life of ..." or "In remembrance of ..." I recall thinking the womans name in the album title was an older country singer but she may not have been. Thank you for any help or clues :) not Mendocino county line, but thanks so far moreResolved Question: Texas Troubador?

I have! Like one time on "The Love Boat" series in the 70's/80's, Florence Henderson (yeah..."Mrs. Brady") sang Willie Nelson's "On The Road Again"...it was just AWFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!! Actually, it was waaaaaaay worse than AWFUL! There;s no words to tell you how totally bad it was!!!!!!!!!! And in the grocery store recently, I heard on their satellite radio station, a woman singing "Rose Garden" and it WASN'T Lynn Anderson! I figured it's a modern version by one of these current "country" singers. It sucked big time! And lastly, I love Conway Twitty's singing, but even he slaughtered a song once... his version of "Danny Boy" made me want to cry...for all the wrong reasons! My mom's a big country music fan (I'm not), and she loves classic country like Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and Kenny Rogers. I bought her the Superstars of Country CDs for Christmas and she loves it! Went over better than anything else I've ever gotten her! So this year I'd like to buy her CDs from contemporary country musicians. If she likes Johnny, Willie and Kenny, can you suggest some folks she might like who are in the same realm, but new? Thx! moreResolved Question: On the Road Again (possibly offensive to sensitive liberals)?
I bought a new high-end car and returned to the dealer the next day complaining that I couldn't figure out how the radio worked. The salesman explained that the radio was voice activated. "Watch this!" he said, "Nelson!" The Radio replied, "Ricky or Willie?" "Willie!" he said, and "On The Road Again" came from the speakers. Then he said, "Ray Charles!", and in an instant "Georgia On My Mind" replaced Willie Nelson. I drove away happy, and for the next few days, every time I'd say, "Beethoven," I'd get beautiful classical music, and if I said, "Beatles" or "Stones" I'd get one of their classic songs. Yesterday, a couple ran a red light and nearly creamed my new car, but I swerved in time to avoid them. "A-s-s-holes!" I yelled. Immediately the French National Anthem began to play, sung by Jane Fonda and Barbara Streisand, backed up by Michael Moore and The Dixie Chicks, with John Kerry on guitar, Al Gore on drums, Dan Rather on harmonica, Nancy Pelosi on tambourine, Harry Reid on spoons, Bill Clinton on sax and Ted Kennedy on scotch. Damn, I LOVE my new car! The nice thing about living in the USA is, we can tell jokes like this and not get shot. moreResolved Question: Please Help?

I'm not much of a fan of modern country, but I enjoy a lot of the classic (Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, June Carter Cash, Merle Haggard ect) country before the 80's. I especially enjoyed the 'Western' stuff. It allways made me think of the Wild West of the 1800's. Are there any modern bands that play the good old 'Western' style any more? moreTop Willie Nelson Classic Links
