What Class Is Amoeba In Questions asked

Resolved Question: Why do you think 'coincidences' happen?

Okay, I know this might sound like a silly question, but I was wondering if anybody out there thinks that coincidences happen for a reason? First example: A few days ago in Biology class, we were learning about amoebas. My teacher said, 'Amoebas are single-celled organisms.' When I got home that night, I started watching a quiz show on TV. My mum and brother came in, arguing. My brother said, "I know, Mum, I'm not an amoeba." To annoy him, I said, "Amoebas are single-celled organisms." Naturally, he told me to shut up, but then literally one minute later, the question on the quiz show was, "Which of these is a single-celled organism?" Obviously, the answer was amoeba. Second example: I was sat in a cafe with my mum and we were discussing how some lobsters were born blue. Then my mum rustled around in her hand bag and found a Penguin bar. She turned it over and the fact was, "Did you know: Some lobsters are born blue." I thought these were both really weird events, and I was wondering if any of you think that coincidences have a real reason behind them. No stupid answers please; it's just a question. Sorry, I just realized this should be in a different section >.< *stupid*  more

Resolved Question: My Chances of getting into these colleges?

Choices: Syracuse, WPI(reach), Alfred U, UT-Austin, IIT(reach as well), Cal Poly SLO. . .All engineering schools (planning on becoming a Pilot and majoring in Aerospace/aeronautics . .I'm a senior at the moment. Course schedule now: Honors Physics Spanish IV AP Econ AP Lit Honors Pre-Calc GPA Soph-end of Junior: 3.6 (rather low because I started off fresh/soph as an awful student but put myself into AP/Honors classes and suceded) SAT I Score: Crit Read:600 Math: 550 (1150 being the sum) EC: Model United Nations, Junior Statesman of America, Rubik's Cube Club (I know, "It's a club?"), Journalism Club, Cinema Club, Film Appreciation Club(old movies), and am trying to do Safe Rides but I don't know if that will work out... Instead of doing community service this summer and going to Hawaii on a private Jet with the Chief Engineer of Broadcom, I took up an Internship at a jewelry Factory in the Dominican Republic for 3+weeks. . improved my spanish, learned how to cast Jewelry, Wash/Polish (using electrostatic equipment and different types of chemicals) it, Link it together, weld it together, work several different machines, inspect it, and helped run the Quality Assurance room(inspection & Packaging). All of the stuff was manual labor, gettin dirty with my hands. . I stayed in a dumpy room in the ghetto of the town that was cockroach/mosquito infested and rarely had running water for showers. I also ended up getting an Amoeba in my stomach there and having to go to the hospital in the DR(I know right) and my phone had no service there. I also am 50% Cuban (Grandpa was cuban refugee) and from Orange County, CA. alli can think of atm. Fair enough. However, why do you say it's bad I'm only taking 2 AP Classes? I'm taking 2 other HONORS courses, that are just as hard as AP, but don't teach specifically with regards to the AP test for that course at my school. I don't see how they don't have any "Depth" my clubs? Do you know anything about MUN or JSA? And witht he statement that I plan on engineering but only in Pre-calc. . that is just retarted. . You can definitely go to an engineering school with just pre-calculus (Even WPI, Syracuse, UT-austin, FIT, see pre-calc as being the minumum) and I'm also in HONORS pre-calculus which is a lot harder; and I'm from a difficult school (top 2% in the nation) so yes my classes are extremely rigorous. .not trying to debate with you, but just trying to get some reasoning out of your statements? please respond. I need all the advice/opinions i can get.  more

Resolved Question: I feel horrible right now (please read, very brief)...?

I need suggestions. Okay, so I am reading "Finding Darwin's God" by Keneth R. Miller (a distinguished professor at Brown). I had a question that I was to later find out is pretty ignorant of me. It was pretty much (((okay brace yourself for stupidity))) "I just had a quick question for better understanding. From my understanding, the simplest living things are the prokaryotic, unicellular organisms such as the amoeba, correct? How were these simplest living things originated? For example, were these living things a part of the big bang or were they not but some how originated from non-living things (if that is at all possible)? Thank you." Then it was "I did some research on Harold Urey experiments and so the evolution of amino acids thus creating living things better makes sense to me." I "forgot" to mention that I was a 16 year old sophomore in high school that has not taken a physics class since elementary school! Thus, comes the ignorance about a living thing coming out of the big bang when no living thing could survive such a thing. I just wanted to see if I could hold my own. And, I got eukaryote and prokaryotes messed up. AND, finally, I identified him as mister rather than professor or doctor. Smooth. Should I just finish the book and email him back next time making sure I have my dad check it to make sure it is a real question and explain to him next time that I'm just a kid interested in science? I feel like I totally messed things up with this distinguished scientist. Thank you two!  more

Resolved Question: Do Plants, Insects and Mammals share a common ancestor?

I am not a creationist, this question is strictly scientific. How does science explain the evolution of all the various types of life from the same source? How does a plant evolve from the same amoeba or cell that a fish does? How did insects evolve from the same ancestor as mammals? Resolved Question: I'm taking my answer that I gave to SensibleChristian and posting it as a question so I can get some feed back

I was talking to a science teacher a few months back. He was teaching a biology class, and we got on the subject of evolution verses creation. I told him I believed in creation, that God created everything in 6 days, and created man in His image. I told him it's better than what he's teaching his students, that everything evolved from a rock. He said that's crazy, I don't teach that life evolved from a rock. So I asked him, where did life evolve from? He said it evolved from a one cell amoeba. Then I asked him, where did the one cell amoeba come from? He said the one cell amoeba came from the primordial soup. So then I asked him where did the primordial soup come from? He said it rained on the rocks for millions of years.............he stopped talking, and just stood there thinking. He realized he did believe that life evolved from a rock. This the Athiest call science. Does anyone here believe that this is a stupid theory, or do you believe God Created? The Weasel.........You're right, they usually do have answers. But you should have seen the look on this teachers face; it was a pained and tortured look as he was thinking. He realized I was right, he did believe that life evolved from a rock. Life evolving from a rock........or creation by an All-mighty and Loving God? Only believing that God created makes sense. On the Plow...........I don't know where you came up with the figure of 99%, but it's nowhere near that. Biologist who believe in evolution are in the majority, but many scientist are beginning to realzie there are lots of problems with the evolution theory and are changing their opinion. By the way, scientific truth isn't determined by majority opinion. Crypto..............maybe you should check the libraries out. If there was any oxygen in the primordial soup, it would have oxidizes the original amoebae, preventing life. Also, amino acids would never have formed together to produce protein in a promordial soup that is made mainly with water. Water breaks down proteins, and prevents amino acids from forming chains.  more

Resolved Question: hows this? check spelling?

there was a superhero named Mallory. Mallory had a certain eloquence about her. Her strength was the fact that she was obstinate. She could get whatever she wanted because she would not give up. Her weakness was that she was maladroit. She would always trip and fall. The superhero's outfit of blue jeans and a T-Shirt was derivative. When Mallory Received rewords she would donate it all to orphanages therefor she was impecunious. Mallory hates it when people are faslidious about food. She donates money to orphanages because she knows they will appreciate the stuff given to them. There were some people against Mallory and didn't believe in her, not villains but some town's people. Kasey did not believe in Mallory which was equivalent to Hersey. Mallory had a Lot of villains against her but the worst villain was "The Amoeba". The Amoeba can change his body into an amorphous shape. The Amoeba could debilitate people with a ray of lassitude. Malory always knew when The Amoeba came because he made such a clamor. The Amoela was a braggart constantly showing off his ray. when ever Mallory defeated him she had an effervescent personality. Mallory made sure the villains where in compliance with the Law. Mallory's goal was to ameliorate the town. Mallory had to fight many villains to make that possible. She heard her name called she couldn't figure out where it was coming from. It turns out Mallory was sleeping in Mrs. Holloway's class dreaming up her one page story. Mrs Holloway has been calling her name over and over i guess Mallory is following her brother's, Alan, foot steps  more

Resolved Question: I am preg. and have amoebas-parasites.Are these danger while preg.-elecampane root, ginger root?i hear no meds

I am 16 weeks pregnant. Most people/drs have told me that i can't take the medicine for them (Flagyl). One dr. told me I could take the medicine in the second trimester. Effects of the amoebas are stomach cramps, diarrhea AND constipation, fatigue. It is a Class "B" medicine which means basically...they are not sure whether it is completly safe or not. So I am trying a herbal tea. These are all the herbs in the tea. elecampane root, ginger rhizome, rosemary, Thyme, Chamomile. Are any of these UNSAFE while pregnant? I am living in South America right now so I do not have many resources or good drs here to tell me things I need to know. I have not been able to find anything on the internet so far either. Thanks for any input!  more
