Resolved Question: Is it possible to be a skeptic AND a Christian?

Or does faith exclude the priveledge of asking difficult questions, such as, "Why does Evolution make more logical sense than Creation?" If evolution was a lie, why do so many intelligent Christians accept it as being plausible? I mean, isn't it possible? Wouldn't it explain our wide variety of fossils that represent creatures which have never been seen or recorded by the "human experience," such as dinosaurs and the whole "tree" of classification we use to describe the physical attributes of animals? What about the various transitional fossils which only aid to further support that there may have been changes in genetic make-up of the species throughout the different generations of a lineage? If 99.9% of all species that have ever lived on Earth have already become extinct. How would we ever have enough space for 1000 times the diversity of life that we have now?  more

Resolved Question: Do you regard humans as separate from the rest of the living world?

If so, why? From a biological standpoint, there as absolutely nothing unique about Homo sapiens. We have all of the features that fit us right into our phylogenetic branch of the tree of life (primates, mammals, vertebrates, animals, eukaryotes,...). If you take issue with the biological classification of humans, then please explain to me how you are not a primate, mammal, vertebrate, etc. So, what is so special about the primate Homo sapiens? We have our own adaptations, but so does every other living organism. How would you say (if you do) that our specific adaptations make us in some way superior? Hey Rif, Big deal. Let me see you outrun a cheetah, or fly off a cliff, or climb the windows of a skyscraper.... All adaptations. Why do you consider your ability to get a drivers license as "better"? Your tail is hardly as impressive as a peacock's. capish? Ok, so your opinion is that you are a superior species if you can drive. Got it. It's clear now, thanks. I could teach a parrot to say "capish"  more
